ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 22, 2020 —AdventHealth is pleased to announce it is partnering with the internationally recognized Rothman Orthopaedic Institute to expand access to world-class orthopaedic care in Central Florida. The long-term partnership brings the research and academic expertise of Rothman Orthopaedics’ nearly 200 physicians to AdventHealth’s network in metro Orlando, which sees more than 3.4 million patient visits annually.
Rothman has signed multiple physicians to employment agreements for Central Florida and will continue to build a roster of fellowship trained, sub-specialized physicians who have a history of exceeding clinical quality, reputation and share an interest in research.
“We are making a major investment to bring more health care services to Central Florida, while building a connected, innovative system that is designed around the consumer’s needs,” said Daryl Tol, president and CEO of AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division. “Rothman Orthopaedics is a world leader, and together with the AdventHealth Orthopedic Institute we are building a team to pursue a big idea and bright future.”
For Rothman, AdventHealth was a natural fit for growth.
“After observing the evolution of the health care sector, we decided that now was the right time to expand outside of our core market and partner with AdventHealth,” said Dr. Alexander R. Vaccaro, M.D., Ph.D., MBA, President of Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, Richard H. Rothman Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics, and Professor of Neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospitals. “AdventHealth is a health care leader and innovator, and we are excited to share the same vision of bringing high-quality orthopaedic care to the communities we serve. We look forward to working alongside AdventHealth and continuing to bolster our world-class service offerings and resources.”
Headquartered in Philadelphia, Rothman has almost 40 offices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. Clinical teams at Rothman, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2020, focus on sub-specialized orthopedic care including sports medicine; joint replacement; spine; shoulder & elbow; foot & ankle; hand & wrist; orthopedic oncology, trauma and fracture; and physical medicine and rehabilitation. Rothman Orthopaedics has repeatedly been ranked as one of the nation’s best orthopedic providers, thanks to its superior and affordable care.
“This is a major step outside of our traditional geographic footprint,” says Mike West, CEO of Rothman Orthopaedic Institute. “We have always believed in bringing care to where the patients are and we can’t wait to bring that same passion for excellence that makes us the preferred providers among referring physicians and professional athletes, to Central Florida.”
