MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Blue Belt Technologies, a medical device company specializing in advanced technology solutions for orthopedic surgery, announces the first Navio-assisted partial knee replacement performed utilizing Smith & Nephew’s ZUK unicompartmental (uni) knee. The case was performed by Dr. Michael Miranda, a board certified Orthopedic Surgeon at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Miranda specializes in adult reconstruction and arthritis surgery of the hip and knee.
“Navio’s intraoperative planning software allows me to virtually place and adjust the implant with great precision. The surgical plan is executed with the aid of a robotic handpiece that removes the targeted bone. For the patient this means results are reproducible and extremely accurate.”
“The ZUK is a clinically successful implant, and now for the first time we’re able to pair it with the advantages of robotics-assisted technology,” said Dr. Miranda. “Navio’s intraoperative planning software allows me to virtually place and adjust the implant with great precision.
