ATHENS — A French company has purchased a controlling interest of Turner Medical in Athens, which will result in 50 to 100 new jobs for manufacturing orthopedic implants and surgical instruments.
In’Tech Medical SAS and Turner Medical spent 2½ years negotiating a deal, which was finalized June 24, according to a news release. Turner Medical will continue to operate from its headquarters in Athens under its current name.
“Turner Medical has been a very good company in Athens and has provided 180 to 200 jobs for a number of years,” said Tom Hill, president of the Limestone County Economic Development Association. “I think this opens up the next chapter of Turner Medical. By selling to In’Tech, it will provide them with the ability to continue to grow.”
