First Sonoma FibuLock Case Completed

March 30, 2015 in San Diego, CA Dr. Robert Tonks, MD completed the very first distal fibula fracture case using the new FibuLock™ Intramedullary nail on a 71yo female who had sustained a Weber B fracture three weeks ago.

FibuLock™ is an Intramedullary fracture repair device designed for Weber A, B & C distal fibula fractures, or common ankle fractures. However, because it is an IM device:

Patients will not experience irritation as is common from traditional plates and screws
Surgeons will not worry about whether their patient’s skin will heal or go onto a complicated wound case as the incision is less than 2cm
FibuLock™ is an easy procedure that takes 15 to 20 minutes to implant
FibuLock™ provides anatomic reductions and mortis alignment
FibuLock™, although not required to be removed, can be removed with a 10 minute percutaneous procedure allowing the patient to return to normal activity the next day
FibuLock™ will be released on a limited basis likely until Fall of 2015 at which point we expect to have full launch of this exciting new product sure to change the way surgeons, and patients, think about ankle fractures and how best to treat them.
