Holt, MI, January 06, 2017 –(PR.com)– Orchid Orthopedic Solutions (Orchid) announced that Mike Miller, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board Member, has retired as CEO effective December 30, 2016 and is now the Vice Chairman of the board of directors. Jerry Jurkiewicz, formerly Chief Operating Officer (COO) and President, has been promoted to the role of CEO.
“There are so many incredible people that have contributed to the success of Orchid and helped grow our business to fulfill a vision that began so many years ago,” Miller said. “So many more people have joined us on this journey throughout the years, making it possible for Orchid to take new and important steps in meeting our customers’ needs along with maintaining an environment of creativity, innovation and drive.”
Miller formed one of the Orchid acquired companies in 1990 and quickly established the company as a key supplier in the orthopedic industry. He was instrumental in introducing near-net forging to the orthopedic industry and was the architect of what Orchid is today. In 2005, Miller was named CEO of Orchid.
“About 28 years ago, I thought that it might be a good idea to change careers, so in 1990 I started a manufacturing business that worked with exotic materials like titanium. Today, that idea has turned into what we all know now as Orchid Orthopedic Solutions – a beautiful dream that grew into a successful business with a working family that supports that dream and makes it thrive,” Miller said, “I will miss everything about the company I have worked with over the last 26 years, and the separation is difficult to fathom, but I know that I leave the company in good hands that will lead it to many more years of greatness.”
Jurkiewicz, who will be succeeding Miller as CEO, joined Orchid in 2016 as President and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining Orchid, he has held executive P&L roles including the President of Optics and Photonics at IDEX Corporation as well as two PE-backed CEO roles. He has also held various functional roles leading large, complex global Sales and Marketing and Operations organizations at companies like AlliedSignal Automotive and PerkinElmer Optoelectronics. He earned both a BS in Engineering and MBA from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Along with these changes, Orchid has changed its commercial and operational structure.
Jurkiewicz said, “Orchid has also reorganized to support and accelerate progress on its most important strategic initiatives. Mark Burba has been promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer. In his new role, he will have global responsibility for driving Operational Excellence by implementing world-class processes with a focus on quality and delivery improvements. Matt Burba has been promoted to the newly created role of Chief Commercial Officer. In his global role, he will be leading all growth functions with a focus on driving unparalleled customer service and seamless product launch.”
