WAXHAW, NC (PRWEB) DECEMBER 08, 2015
Cutting Edge Spine (http://www.cuttingedgespine.com), a technology-driven developer and marketer of highly-differentiated spinal implant systems, announced today the first successful surgical implantations of its novel interbody form, the True Oblique Lordotic.
The cases were performed by Dr. Michael D. Mitchell, MD, of Mary Black Health System in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with several successful procedures completed within the past month. The first surgical implantations of the True Oblique Lordotic are another crucial component of Cutting Edge Spine’s everyday mission to provide surgeons with clinically relevant spinal systems that are not only safe and effective, but decidedly innovative, thus facilitating the highest level of patient care.
“Cutting Edge Spine’s True Oblique Lordotic implants are anatomically contoured to provide correct lordosis when placed in an oblique position, either through a posterior or a transforaminal approach,” said Dr. Mitchell. “This unique geometry is different from a traditional lordotic straight implant in that it affords balanced lordosis when placed appropriately.”
The True Oblique Lordotic implant offered by Cutting Edge Spine is a footprint within its EVOS-HA family and is made from innovative PEEK-OPTIMA HA Enhanced, offered by Invibio, which has similar mechanical properties to PEEK-OPTIMA Natural and a modulus similar to that of cortical bone. The material, furthermore, affords the opportunity for bone on growth as compared to PEEK-OPTIMA Natural.
“The True Oblique Lordotic’s unique design, supported by HA Enhanced material, was created with the input of spine surgeons,” commented Randy Roof, President of Cutting Edge Spine. “We expect this one-of-a-kind implant to produce tremendous results.”
Cutting Edge Spine is currently in the process of commercializing the new technology and establishing distribution throughout the United States.
