LDR announces updated NASS coverage policy recommendation on one- and two-level CDR

LDR Holding Corporation recently announced the North American Spine Society has revised its formal coverage recommendation for cervical artificial disc replacement to include support for both one- and two-level procedures when clinically indicated.

The evidence-based coverage policy recommendation released by the North American Spine Society (NASS) supports one- and two-level cervical artificial disc replacement (CADR) for radiculopathy or myelopathy from disc degeneration following appropriate nonoperative care.

The NASS Coverage Committee noted the rationale for coverage of CADR was based on the indications and results of randomized controlled trials that compared the procedure with anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF).

“The revised NASS policy recommendation further validates the emergence of CADR as an alternative to ACDF in appropriate patients and should help to further expand coverage for the Mobi-C cervical disc for both one- and two-level procedures in the United States,” Christophe Lavigne, president and chief executive officer of LDR, said in the release.
