Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush spine surgeon Edward Goldberg, MD, is serving as a principal investigator for a new study on the effectiveness of the Spinal Kinetic M6-C artificial disc.

The Spinal Kinetic M6-C is an advanced generation disc designed to replicate the flexibility and motion of the human disc. Dr. Goldberg is currently seeking patients for the study, which compares the Spinal Kinetics M6-C disc with fusion for patients with symptomatic cervical radiculopathy.

The study is conducted at Rush University Medical Center and researchers will use X-ray technology to ensure proper device placement. The study includes patients who have failed non-surgical treatments but haven’t undergone previous surgery.

The researchers will follow up with patients for 24 months.

Spine surgeons Howard An, MD, and Frank Phillips, MD, will also participate in the study.
